The HDMI cable
The HDMI stands for high-definition multimedia interface. This is the standard cable being used today for TVs, PC monitors, and others. Think back in the day, remember those three cables colored yellow for video, while red and white are for audio. Nowadays, the HDMI has all of those functions rolled into one. The outlet of the cable is the same regardless of whether you plug it in.
This means that this cable is used to plug in from the TV to a DVD player or even a Blu-Ray player. This works the same for a PC monitor as it does for the CPU or a projector. It doesn’t matter if the PC is used for work, school, or gaming; the HDMI is the one you can rely on. On top of that, it is also capable of high-definition resolutions like 4K and more.
The DisplayPort, DVI, and VGA cables
The DisplayPort is an alternative to the HDMI. This one is more sought after by those who like to do a lot of heavy gaming. This isn’t necessary for work or school, when you don’t really need some high-definition content. The HDMI is enough for that, but going back to the DisplayPort, it is better for gaming setups. It has a higher and faster refresh rate, and audio quality is even better than the HDMI. It’s also the number one choice for people who use more than one monitor.
The DVI is a bit of an old model; it can be attached to PCs from TV monitors and streamingexperience. The problem is that it doesn’t transmit audio, so you need to find another cable for it. Lastly, the VGA cable is a lot like the DVI. It is also an older model, and it is unable to transmit audio. These two cables were made for older PCs, for the ones that do not support HDMI. There are still older models today, so these cables would be useful.
The USB-C cable
This cable was just rolled out in recent years. The quality of the video and audio is just alright, but this isn’t very abundant. It is only for select PCs, and it is also commonly used for recent models of laptops and mobile phones. It’s not used as much, but there is a market of people who use the USB-C cable for their connections.
